Subject: T-Mobile G1 - w/Multiple Gmail Accounts
I am a T-Mobile customer, and am considering purchasing a G-1. While
reading reviews, one said the device is tightly integrated with Gmail
and Google, "so much so that you can only use one Google account with
the device." Is this true? I have multiple accounts, and would like to
be able to access all of them using the device.

saturdaysale,

For this information you would need to ask somebody who has a G1 which
nobody has but I doubt this is the case. When you go into Gmail it
should ask for name and password. Once you have signed out you should
be able to enter a different set of account details. On a Blackberry I
can sign in to four accounts (possibly more) and by going to the
accounts menu bring each up in turn (kills the battery). If the G1
does less I would be surprised but you should have 28 days to return
it if it doesn't do what you want.

You need a Gmail account to activate the G1. This account will fully
sync your Gmail Contacts, Calendar, and Email (including lables,
stars, etc).  All of this will be available whether your G1 is online
or not.  This full-sync will only work with 1 Gmail account.  The G1
also supports IMAP and POP3 email accounts, so you could add your
additional email accounts this way.  You could share your other
calendars with your primary Gmail account, and then have access to
them.

The G1 user guide is availabe at the T-Mobile web site, you should
take a look at it for more detailed information.

Hi -

Just purchased a G1 yesterday. Today, you can only use one gmail
account with the gmail client. There's no provisions for multiple
accounts.

I was thinking about routing all my email to the gmail account, I
can't send as "[email address]". I guess I'll just use IMAP for
now.

Pity. It would be nice to have all my contacts and email on the phone.
I'm hopeful the Gmail team will add this feature in the future.

The phone is great overall, but I'm still learning how to use it

Best Regards.... Keith

My puppy just ate my T-mobile Wing this afternoon, so I am the proud
owner of a G1.  A few months ago I routed all 4 of my email accounts
into one Google Account, the spam on my phone was doing me in. <SIGH>
You can indeed route multiple email accounts into one Google account
and set it up so the reply-to and send address from the address it is
sent to or you can chang before it goes out. See Settings on Gmail.

I am use to Windows Mobile and syncing contacts and calendar via
Outlook. Since my ownership is all of a few hours, I haven't figured
out how the best way to do this will be.

Anyone who has a G1..

is there a specific format that your phone numbers need to be in, in
order to synch them to your new G1?

is this functionality accessible from within the G1 gmail client? is
it possible to change the 'from address' through the phone?

No.  It doesn't seem possible.  I am really hoping for an update that
will add this feature.

Does visiting the actual gmail site work?  I understand I can only tie
one account into the phone, but can I hand off the phone to someone
else to check their gmail real quick?
