Stay away from anything Ulead sells. It's crap.

TDA is a good program but they have implemented a new intrusive
licensing provision that most people are not happy with. Get an
earlier version.

Before you Ulead shills jump me, I am entited to express my opinion
just as much as you are. Just because my opinion differs radically
from yours is not justification for jumping on me. I am trying to
alert the newbie to a bad piece of software. He is free to choose what
he wants based on your recommendations.

Maybe someone, like myself, who is professionally using this program is a
more credible source than one who has not used it.

First, my preference for TDA should be well established
by now.  Second, I personally would never use an editor
to author a DVD.

That said, there are a significant number of improvements
in "VideoStudio 10 Plus" and "MediaStudio Pro 8", I like
the way they handle HD MPEG editing.  Some might say
that it is similar to the method Power Producer uses, but
I think Ulead is doing a better job of it.  (This is more
apparent in "Media Studio") [The "Smart Proxy Editing"]

The "VideoStudio 10 Plus" is closer to my budget though.

As I have said, I use a DVD Authoring program to author
DVDs, not an editor, but a video editor (like a good still
graphic editor, Photoshop, Gimp2, ect...) can provide parts
to make really impressive DVD menus, or bonus clips.

Products change all the time and it's not fair to keep
blaming a company for a "dog" in their past.  (Examples
like "MyDVD", aside.)

Luck;
    Ken

I've used it. And it is broken. Even after running the clips thru
Video ReDo, Movie Factory choked on them.

It works most fo the time, but that is not good enough. I am surprised
that you would tolerate such poor performance.

Are you saying that Ulead has a newer Movie Factory that actually
works?

I have used ver. 3, and now ver. 4. The program has worked great for me. I
use it to join video clips together and make menu's. Also, it is great for
editing TV programs, removing commercials, and adding chapter menu's.

I am so happy for you. You never ran into a clip that caused MF4 to go
into a blank stare. Such clips exist, even ones that have been
conditioned by Video ReDo. One of them was so bad that I had to redub
it to DVD so I could work with it.

When I wrote tech support all I got was lame excuses about how
difficult this technology is, and a long-winded lecture about
copyright infringement. The whole thing sounded like it was coming
from a garage shop.

Has anyone ever looked into what Ulead really is? Not what they claim
to be - that can be easily faked.

worth the effort to consider.

You have not used any of their recent products, which are winning awards

I was able to use Video ReDo and TDA successfully.

So tell us more about this "non-compliance".
