  Presuming, of course, that you ARE in Region 1: &lt;br&gt; At least on my machine, DVDShrink balks at off-region &lt;br&gt; discs and asks whether you want to change your region. &lt;br&gt; DVDDecrypter and DVDFABDecrypter takes any region disc &lt;br&gt; and makes them region=0.

  You should be able to use either although I always rip to strip &lt;br&gt; macrovision &amp;amp; region free, &lt;br&gt; For dvddecrypter its in tools -&amp;gt; settings -&amp;gt; general &lt;br&gt; untick remove macro and change the region number &lt;br&gt; for dvd shrink you get the option when you come to &amp;quot;back up&amp;quot; the disk.

  AFAIK all dvd_video disks are formated UDF. &lt;br&gt; The problem could be any number of things. Possibles can be anything from: &lt;br&gt; The disk is a DVD-R and has not been closed. - good chance of this one. &lt;br&gt; The video is not standard DVD eg its a Divx or similar. &lt;br&gt; The DVD player just does not like that brand of disk.

  Someone sent me a DVD that plays in my PC but not in my Sony DVD home &lt;br&gt; player. &lt;br&gt; Turns out to be a UDF file. &lt;br&gt; Have been playing around with DVDshrink by unchecking the Region Free &lt;br&gt; box and then checking all other boxes, then doing the opposite, with &lt;br&gt; all various in between. No go. &lt;br&gt; I am sure someone has a better answer. I have Nero 8 and 9 for
