We are looking for a developer to create a Google Map gadget for us to feature in the gadget directory. Right now users of Blogger in Draft can geotag their posts. We'd like to offer them a gadget that maps their posts.
Ideally, clicking on each marker in the map would show the first image of the post (thumbnailed - you can get this in the feed as the "media RSS" image) along with the post title, snippet, and date.

Hi.
I've started developing a gadget for this subject, and the basics are
almost finished!
Just there are a few more final steps need to be fixed;
- centering and zoooming into map to show added marker points.
- gadget (or browser) is caching the posts feed. so removed posts or
removed geotags still appears even after they are deleted from the
profile.
And what more extra features about UserPrefs?? Maybe some map display
options, like Terrain or Flat Map. Or custom Marker Icons maybe??
And yes, +1 "BTW How would development/support costs be covered?"??
Will developer able to have any profit from this gadget??

I've checked out my gadget and fixed some errors and stuff.

Post location is only available on Draft - however we are very close to turning on the Draft editor at www.blogger.com. A lot of good things will come with that :)

I have not developed a standard XML gadget YET and you've been copied on the many reasons that I think that generating a blog based interactive sidebar map gadget is a REALLY bad idea. My mapping solutions can be seen in the blog link mentioned above (http:// svbillabong.blogspot.com).. both interactive blog navigation maps (could be a sidebar gadget link) and the geoblog dynamic maps (both sidebar "Geoblogs on this page" gadget maps and popup versions).
These both have "Add to Blogger" buttons available. The Geoblogs on this page *could possibly* be written into a XML gadget after some bugs get fixed.

Getting lumped in with (now) 2400 other (crap) gadgets is not exactly something I consider valuable or worth my effort (also discussed in previous emails).
The recommended gadgets rarely get updated and the "Most popular" has NOT been updated and still contains at least one broken gadget (also reported). How can a completely broken gadget be the most popular?
If it's not worth your teams time to even discuss the options, it's certainly not worth mine to develop it (for free).
