I have been contacted by a couple of Mind’s Eye members and told that
they couldn’t post. Since a few have let me know this, I can only
assume the problem is more widespread than that.
I have let the other moderators know of the problem and we will
research it and keep all of you advised here.
I have only checked the group settings that seem to be ok however some
group members have had their posting status changed to moderated…
apparently for no reason.

Truth is for the past few days I have noticed that there hasn't been
any activity aside from Orn, Rigs and myself. I thought it was due to
some holiday travel or a covert CIA operative lurking in the shadows
or the FBI trying to find the whereabouts of Bin Laden or the
Christian Coalition led by John Hagee trying to suppress the Anti-
Christ or possibly the insidious ad campaign of Oxy Clean portrayed by
the ghost of Billy Mays.

If anyone who has been a member long here and is not moderated doesn't
seem to be able to post, please let us know and we can check to see if
there is a simple fix.
For your information, this issue extends to many Google Groups and not
just our group.

Hi,
This is actually Neil. I unsubscribed the archytas account associated
with my nwte...@gmail.com and resubscribed with this one linked to my
live mail account. I'm obviously on moderation. Something rather
nasty has happened with my gmail account and it's become associated
with spam. Quite a few friends have been getting spammed in my name.
I'm having the same problem in all google groups (5) except the one I
own, though even this has started to email all messages to me. Since
changing to this account I am 'back in' another group I'm using this
account in. My problems started after I joined that Wittgenstein lot
- though I suspect from a link there I clicked on by mistake.

I've been finding the Internet more problematic than usual. Paying
bills, banking and stuff. Plus 64 bit operating seems to need loads
of plug-ins that don't exist. I can't even play table tennis and
cricket at miniclip! We're all doomed!

Some of you are regaining access to ME by setting up alternative email
accounts and then posting. Some have had to use a different provider.
When we recognize old members, we reestablish your non-moderated
status.
There still are a few obvious interface issues with Google Groups that
I am observing. One is that when using the web interface, I do not see
the screen name of the most recent poster to this topic. I only see my
screen name from a post I made long ago. Others have posted since.
Another anomaly is that for us moderators, the number of moderated
messages requiring attention does not show up in one of the few places
it used to be. So, I am having to relearn how to use the system and
keep email traffic current.
Thanks again for your patience and don’t give up!
Hopefully things will settle down soon.

The whole thing has been very strange, Neil. I set up a yahoo account
yesterday to try to post here - to no avail. My posts just didn't come
through, although the interface was informing me that the posting had
been successful (just like my original account). Registering through a
German (.de) provider finally worked. A (completely speculative)
explanation could be that attempts from the google people to deal with
the spy-problem (which treated us to that spamming wave recently)
resulted in a change of settings which had the effect of shutting out
most legitimate posters. This change of settings would seem to
concentrate on the big .com providers like google and yahoo (possibly
also gmx and others). It was you logging in with a .co.uk provider
which gave me the idea of trying a route with a "national" provider.
But I know nothing about computer code, so it could just as well be
the Illuminati, MI6, or the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of
the Faith.
One thing I have learned from this is that I am a Minds Eye junkie!
With my access blocked, I found myself tooling around aimlessly on the
net, doing ridiculous things like ardently following a facebook
campaign to have the Ireland-France game last Wednesday (where France
qualified for the World Cup in South Africa at Ireland's expense as a
result of a shameful hand-ball by Thierry Henry!) replayed :-). It's
good to be back.

No doubt we both favour a Sharia punishment for Monsieur Henry! God
did not treat Senor Maradonna well after lending him a hand. I'm
ashamed to admit I'm only back courtesy of Microsoft Live. I too must
admit an addiction - apparently this can get really sad for some. I
have shied away from believing the powers that be are trying to stop
our communicative action but it is a reality in the sense of the
politicians and media. Chris and I should get together and bottle the
daily dose of sanity provided by yourself, Orn, Molly, Vam, Ian (too
rarely these days), Gabby and others! Perhaps we could call it Mind's
Ayer (the philosophers' high) after Gabby's brilliant phrase, though
no doubt the story would have a cloak and dagger end should she insist
on royalties!

While Orn has been doing an admirable job managing the email flow, I've been
looking into alternative environments and/or some sort of back up system.
I'm meeting with a group this week who is launching a groupware/social
aggregate to see it demo'ed, and believe it might be a welcome adjunct to
replace the forums and article posting I had setup with DubiousProfundity,
while providing some redundancy for our group list and functions. I'll let
you all know after the demo.
