1) He didn't call 40 cold, he made the initial $5 bet and called your
raise.
2) He didn't know he was beat, he had trips with top kicker. Even though
you were ahead, you couldn't improve your hand and he had two outs to chop
and six to win with two cards to come. This hardly rates a yawn.
