great....but would you be willing to pay 510% more for it(or woudl

The primary benefit of separate bills is it hides how much the
services overlap.  You also don't see the whole picture of the costs.

Why?  Computer systems with external access are practically in every
medical facility in the country, even the local doctor's offices.  Why
would combining 5 bills to one sheet of paper result in an increase of
510%?

My mechanic, grocer, bank, florist, lawyer, accountant, newspaper boy,
retail outlet, etc. ... just about every service and commodity
provider I associated with does not have this problem.

> e dont give a ****......we would like to not expand costs, thats why
> we dont go with another level of paperwork.......

You don't need more paper.  It's electronic ... just like this
internet-thingy you're posting on is.  You didn't get billed 510% more
to post to usenet by your ISP, right?  They didn't give you some sob
story about how complicated it might be to provide access.

> because a urologist and a general surgeon and an internist dont do the
> same thing and arent trained to do the same thing...sorry!

Sorry about what?  You're the one confused.  I'd hope they didn't do
the same thing, but then neither do the waiter, chef and dishwasher,
but the restaurant doesn't bill individually for them, or their
produce supplier, or their butcher, etc.

> because that would be less efficient.....likewise it would be less
> efficient for your urologist, internist, and general surgeon to have a
> powwow with the hospital and combine the bills......jesus......

What powow?  They simply submit their fee ... just like vendors do
with credit cards to your bank.  Or are you saying that these
intellects can't figure out how to send something electronically that
will save them time (and thus, money) and allow them to take on more
patients?

> no. they can and they do.

> Like I said....If a few years from now you guys want to pay 10% more

Well, you probably will get paid less.  But why 10% overhead?  Or was
it 510% a few paragraphs ago?  You're talking out of your ass again.

> so figure it out for yourselfs...Im just trying to educate you on the
> reality and details....

The reality is that it's standard practice for insurance companies to
confuse, overbill and try to sucker people into paying more than they
should.  The system is complex because it benefits the entire
chain ... from the individual bills, to the hospital bills, to the
insurance statements to the duplicate statements, etc.

My son was in the ER a few years ago and we were billed multiple times
for the same thing.  I anticipated it, so kept every record.  It's not
a surprise that virtually every service-oriented company can get this
right but the medical field, and they're supposedly the brightest ...
and they've done a great job, just look at their profits and the homes
that many doctors and specialists live in.

When my son was born the hospital billed me for a procedure because of

Three weeks later, the minibar bill showed up.

The week after that, you got the one from the housekeepers - the same
darn day you got billed by the lifeguard at the pool - and you didn't
even *use* the @#$%in' pool!

It turns out that the hotel contracts a linen service, so it took two
full months for that shit to arrive.

Much more efficient this way.

You have no defense.  It's nice of you to play devil's advocate for the
rest of us, though.

Cheers.

hey, mianderson <mianderso...@gmail.com>'s been through solid matter,
for crying out loud. Who knows what's happened to his brain? Maybe
it's scrambled his molecules...

yeah... the guy framing your house has only been doing that kind of
stuff since he was 14, when he helped his dad... that 25 year old
"kid" has more experience than you will when you finish med school.

oh and that Journeyman electrician has oodles of hoops and time
requirements on the Job before he/she can think about taking the test.

I really get pissed, when a Doctor glances at an X-ray and charges 500
bucks to" read" it.

but medicine is a more important job than putting shingles on a
house.......sorry.  it is.

no doctor charges 500 dollars to read an xray....the reimbursment a
radiologist gets(and in most cases the rads review on an xray is just
a formality anyways) is a tiny fraction of that....the "reading" fee
if you will.

You are probably confusing that with an mri or pet or whatever(and
hell the reimbursement for an mri for rads isnt 500 either)....the
reading fee I mean.
