Exactly, which confirms this basis for my opposition to gay marriage.
Now if you were to argue that "well, even if gay marriage is enacted,
the day will never come when those who find it repugnant are expected to
accord it social legitimacy", then that basis would be undermined.
But we both agree that's not the case.

Which is about as meaningful as the fact that the winner of the SECCG
is the SEC champion. It's not a national title. It's really about on
the same level as winning the Sugar Bowl -- actually, until the last
couple of years, that's exactly what it was.

I may not be impressed with the Yankees win over the Phillies in the WS.

Who says it is? Who cares? As Pete Carroll famously put it, the BCS is
the system that "all the BCS schools agreed to", so its winner is their
champion.

I agree that other factors like overall win %, conference titles, BCS
bowl wins, etc. should count, BUT they shouldn't be allowed to trump the
main thing - winning national titles.
So, e.g., if schools A and B both have 2 national titles, but B has more
BCS bowl wins and more conference titles, than those would tip the nod to B.

(Meta) About My Heartattack

Since I have friends that have asked from usenet here are the details:
When I was working on 10/29/09 I thought I pulled a muscle but it
seems I had a mild heart attack. I kept feeling my left hand go numb
so I said after Halloween if it's still going numb I'll go see my doc.
It stopped Sunday but started Tuesday so I went in on Wed. and my doc
