When I was an old fart dust kicker at Dong Dok college, Hiem Phomachanh was my best oldy Viet friend. He told me that one day he will be a Lao leader. I told him... you must be a Phi Ba...
Later... Hiem told me about the so called " Thanouxay" or Mr. Yong Chanh Nguyen. We were all learning English at that time.. I never believed these Viet guys will be Lao leaders as they mentioned. Viet's tactics were planned way before 1975...They went to Lao school, speak fleunt Lao, and now becoming Lao offcials.
Will Hiem and Yong be the next Lao foreign ministers? Will see.

I don’t care much about where their forefather’s came from since the individual speak Lao, read and write Lao, care for Muanglao as his/her own motherland, moreover if the individual learn hard and step up be Lao leader and also lead Lao in right direction like Thanh Kaison for example .. I'm 100% support....

i do not agree with you two, laos is still young and many of lao folks can't tell the difference between nationalist and patriots yet. right now what am i observing laos is all the lao current leaders are not from lao descendent parents afraid those will influence their thoughts mixed up the must preserved lao identity pratices. just a thought

Dekfangkhong is not accurate about Dongdokers. As I recall, at that time, only Lao ethnics were to be allowed to that facility . Vietnamese and Chinese were considered foreigners and they preferred staying in Lycee.
