An immortal cells does not mean that it cannot die. Certainly,
it can be burned; or poisoned; or eaten by another microbe or
starved to death. But an immortal cell unlike a somatic cell is
not programed to age and die. IOW the Hayflick limit determines
the number of divisions a somatic cell, where as a immortal cell
is not limited by it's telomeres.
